Washington Outdoors Report

January 2023

In the spring of 2022, the Washington Outdoors Collaborative, an initiative led by LBC Action, conducted a discovery process assessing barriers and opportunities related to greater collaboration among the many organizations working to connect Washington State youth to the outdoors. The findings of that discovery process are detailed in this report, which was written by Spitball Inc.

King for a Day

November 2017

"It was a beautiful summer evening. Raucous crowd. Grudge match against the Portland Timbers. Cascadia Cup on the line. National television cameras.  Men and women in military uniform carrying the flag. Flames bursting skyward.  All a prelude to a moment I’ll never forget: Peter marching out of the tunnel, clutching the hand of Sounders goalie Stefan Frei, and smiling like a kid only does when he knows he’s king for the day."

"The combination of mobile technology and diabetes research is also reshaping how people with T1D monitor their health over longer periods of time. The days of needing IT support to complete home meter downloads have given way to glucose values migrating seamlessly to the cloud, creating a more complete picture of health."

Fresh Tracks Blog Post

August 2016

"What we were staring at would not survive without protection. Not the caribou breeding grounds, not the permafrost, and not the village itself. Like any community, Arctic Village needed people with the knowledge, the skills, and the heart to speak up, to be citizens, to make a difference. In many ways, the call to action issued there in the spectacular great outdoors was everything Fresh Tracks represented."

IslandWood Fundraising Brochure

May 2016

"More than 60,000 elementary school students and 300 graduate students have spent well over 1 million waking hours exploring our 255-acre wooded campus, building deeper connections to the world around them, and developing an expanded sense of possibility for themselves, their communities, and the planet. The result: legions of diverse young leaders with the knowledge, compassion, and inspiration to create a brighter future for all of us."

IslandWood Annual Report

2015

IslandWood was eager to help thousands of donors and partners feel the impact of their support on a broad range of audiences, including youth participants, graduate students, military families, and educators. Heavy blocks of text accompanied by black-and-white charts and graphs would not be enough to capture the energy released through outdoor engagement. We collaborated with IslandWood's CEO on a message of gratitude, wrote short, engaging copy blocks, and tapped into the organization's photo library for photos and images - like children's art - that mimicked the vibrancy and diversity of nature itself.
